Resort location -

This resort is close to Mazarron town. The coastal resort of Puerto de Mazarron is a short drive away and has numerous shops, bars, restaurants, a marina and a safe wide sandy beach with a palm tree lined promenade.

A Great Setting -

The Costa Calida boasts some of the most beautiful and varied little spots along its 250km of coastline. There are fine sandy beaches tucked away, sand dunes, high cliffs, unexploited or touristy bays.

Puerto de Mazarron Beach.

Within 10-15 minutes drive you will find the beaches of Puerto de Mazarron. Some beaches are vast (Playa Grande) while others (Bahia & Bolnuevo beach) are smaller, lined with palm trees and authentic fisherman’s cottages. The beach in the centre of town opposite the paseo (boulevard) has a play area and there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to keep you entertained. The first 50 meters into the water is very shallow, therefore a bit warmer and great for the younger kids. From the harbours and beaches of Puerto de Mazarron you can enjoy many water sports such as sailing, fishing, diving, jet skiing, etc

Mazarron Beach

Beach and Marina at Puerto de Mazarron

The prettiest beach near Condado de Alhama is Percheles beach within 20 minutes drive. A stunning beach lined with palm trees and enclosed by sand dunes and green hills. It is a little off the beaten track so still relatively quiet in summer. There are plenty of parking spaces right at the beach (they have recently separated the beach from the parking area), but no facilities so bring your own food & refreshments. There are a few little coves with lovely beaches off the bigger beach, which can be accessed on foot

Percheles Beach

Other beaches to visit are at Isla Plana & La Azohia where the beaches vary from long and sandy to small and private. Some are lined with palm trees, with a selection of bars & restaurants to choose from, others are backed by sand dunes or enclosed by rocky coves.

Playa de las Mujeres near Calnegre is within a 25 minutes drive from the apartment. Again off the beaten track but well worth visiting. A dirt track leads along the coast and there are several stunning beaches just off it. The first beach you encounter is very popular with the Spanish and is enclosed by sand dunes and rocks and has a small Spanish family run restaurant (beach hut).

Here you can order your paella when you arrive in the morning (make sure to be there between 10 and 11 am) and the staff will give you a time to return for your lunch. You than set up camp on the beach (bring a shade as this beach gets quite hot in summer) and when it is lunch time you leave your towels etc. walk 20 meters to the restaurant and enjoy your lunch overlooking the glimmering Mediterranean. This beach has a lifeguard, toilets and water. The sea can be quite rough at times and is great for wave riding or body boarding.

The view along the coast is that of small low rise villages and field upon field of tomatoes. The province is a mixture of mountains with a scattering of fertile plains where the Moorish farming influence is still much in evidence.

Puerto de Mazarron, Aguilas and Cartagena all have characteristic sea-fronts with protected parks and green spaces such as the Ciudad Encantada or Enchanted City, where the force of the wind and the water over the years have carved out the white sandstone to their own designs.

Bolnuevo Rocks

The local towns of Totana and Alhama de Murcia are only a 10 minutes drive away and are  ideal for discovering the varied history of this region. In Mula one can relax, like the Romans did, by immersing yourself in the theraputic spa waters.

Further afield

Cartagena Amphitheatre

In the heart of the city of Cartagena is the Roman amphitheatre which dates back some 2,000 years to the heyday of Cartagena’s centuries as an important Roman city. This bustling city has a wealth of history, with museums, department stores, restaurants and narrow streets all of which can be easily explored on foot. There are even sightseeing boat trips available around this natural harbour. Travelling time by car is approximately 35mins.

Murcia City

Murcia is a University city and the capital of this region. The city is divided by the Segura River and is known for its beautiful Baroque Cathedral, Almudi Palace and the castle of Monteagudo ( where the Arab influence can be well appreciated ), a fortress from the 11th c., the Market de Veronicas, the Malecon Garden, Casino and the Museum Ramon Gaya. Ideal for a walking visit. This is easily accessible by train from the apartments neighbouring town of Totana or by car travelling time is approximately 30mins.

The Sierra Espuna National Park

The Sierra Espuna Mountain nature reserve is a great place  to explore this mountainous area. It is located just 20 minutes drive from the apartment. Its altitude varies between 260 and 1583 metres and is one of Spain’s exemplary cases of reforestation. Its river banks bathed by the region’s waterways, were replanted towards the end of the 19th century, with huge pine and holm oak forests. The Sierra Espuna is an area of cool freshness, so its visitors, whether walking, cycling,  horse riding, quad biking or kayaking will find splendid scenes of forest and mountainous landscapes.  There are information areas showing walking routes, restaurants and desingnated BBQ and picnic        areas  to enjoy.

The Region of Murcia

The Murcia region is little known even within Spain, maybe that’s the reason why it continues to be relatively unspoilt compared to other more overcrowded areas of the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

The region is a major producer of fruits, vegetables and flowers for Spain and the rest of Europe. Excellent wineries have developed near the towns of Bullas, Yecla and Jumilla, as well as olive oil near Moratalla.

Lovely beaches, mountainous scenery and a good year round climate. This area has the most days of sunshine in Europe with a 21Cº average annual temperature. 250 kms of coastline alongside 2 seas. The Mediterranean Sea has crystal clear waters, which converge at the Mar Menor to form a lagoon of warm, calm waters to enjoy the sports of sailing, windsurfing or canoeing all year round.
The Costa Calida coast line is an ideal location to enjoy a family beach or golfing holiday.
